The problem will remain as long as people sit back and accept it. The problem will remain as long as people look at the situation but can't see beyond the facade of the religion. How to fix it? We can start by enforcing existing laws against child prostitution, polygamy, violations of the Mann Act, statutory rape, child abandonment ... the list goes on and on and on.
